I know, I know, it’s a gross headline – but I had to get your attention somehow.
I cannot BELIEVE how many women I get coming to me that do not use protection when having casual sex. I mean, it is unfathomable how many. The excuses are always the same “I don’t like the way it feels”, “I am on birth control, so I don’t need to worry” (what?!) or “I don’t want to ruin the moment by making him put one on”.
GIRRRRRLLLL! STD’s are super common and can be (obviously) dangerous for your body, especially if you want to pop out some lil crotch goblins in the future. Not to mention risking an unwanted pregnancy by a guy you don’t even like that much – that is another lifelong commitment and unnecessary stress and heartache that could be easily avoided. Not fair on you and not fair on bubs.
Just so you can put this in perspective, as many as one in eight sexually active adults have genital herpes. Chlamydia is the leading cause of infertility in women in Australia, it sometimes has no symptoms at all so can be causing damage before you are aware you have it. Gonorrhoea and Syphilis are on the rise, and more and more people are being infected with various STI’s and spreading the love – thanks Tinder.
If you think these stats don’t apply to you, think again. At least get regularly tested and stay honest if you are infected with something untoward. If you are too scared to get tested because you are too scared to know the results, think about how scary it will be when it completely overtakes your body or infects someone you love.
Just because you get an STD, doesn’t mean you are dirty and disgusting. It just means you weren’t using condoms when you should have been! Even a diagnoses of a life-long STI like herpes is not a death sentence for dating, just be open and honest and talk to your doctor about what your options are or what the best way to tell your partner is.
To avoid all of this headache – DONT BE SILLY, WRAP HIS WILLY.
It takes 5 seconds to do, and then you can re-get in the mood afterwards. It doesn’t take long, but it’s totally worth it for your health and piece of mind. Now, go and book that appointment girlfriend.
